Serie A Player Status Updates – Round 34

Some of the most recognizable players risks being out in the upcoming round, here are the updates on everybody’s conditions.

Juventus: Miralem Pjanic is trying to recover for the big match against Napoli after skipping one due to a hamstring contracture and there are good chances he will be able to. Same for Mario Mandzukic, who was unavailable in Crotone due to gastroenteritis. Stefano Sturaro has a sore Achilles tendon, Mattia De Sciglio is out with a foot injury.

Napoli: no problems for the Partenopei, other than Faouzi Ghoulam who has been out for a while with a patella fracture. 

Roma:  Diego Perotti is set to return after a calf pull. Gregoire Defrel is done for the season due to an ankle sprain with ligament damage and a knee debridement surgery. Rick Karsdorp remains out. Aleksandar Kolarov will rest.

Lazio: Luis Alberto and Alessandro Murgia are suspended. Marco Parolo is questionable with a hamstring ailment after being pulled in the warm-ups against Fiorentina, but there is optimism here. Patric is dealing with muscle fatigue.

Inter: Roberto Gagliardini has suffered a thigh (semimembranosus muscle) strain and will be sidelined for at least 20 days. They should have Matias Vecino back.

Milan:  Hakan Calhanoglu’s knee flared up, but the exams did not find any structural damage, so he will be out this week but could return soon. Leonardo Bonucci and Lucas Biglia are dealing with minor muscular ailments. Alessio Romagnoli will be on the shelf for at least two more weeks with a hamstring strain. Andrea Conti will return next week.

Atalanta: infirmary again at full capacity for the Goddess, as Josip Ilicic, Leonardo Spinazzola, José-Luis Palomino and Luca Rizzo are expected to be out again, the first three due to knee ailments. Melegoni is questionable due to a sore ankle. Andrea Petagna is a little fatigued. Andrea Masiello is under the weather. 

Sampdoria: no issues other than Nicola Murru, whose season is likely to be over because of a knee sprain.

Fiorentina: Marco Sportiello and German Pezzella are suspended. Cyril Thereau is having a tough time coming back from what has been dubbed muscle fatigue but is likely something more severe. Milan Badelj will try a late-season comeback from a MCL sprain, Lo Faso has already been ruled out for good.

Torino: Iago Falque and Antonio Barreca are questionable due to adductor pain: they both will not be available. Daniele Baselli and Lorenzo De Silvestri are suspended. Joel Obi is doubtful because of a thigh problem. Lyanco has returned to Brazil to heal his foot.

Bologna: Mattia Destro was ruled out late against Sampdoria due to a knee injury and he is unlikely to recover in time. Erick Pulgar missed one due to muscle fatigue, Rodrigo Palacio and Andrea Poli have practiced on their own for the same issue. The Chilean is out, the other two players are good to go. Ladislav Krejci has recovered. Vasilis Torosidis (hamstring) and Godfred Donsah (knee) are out. Filip Helander cracked a rib and will be out for about a month. 

Genoa: Armando Izzo continue to practice on his own due to a calf strain, Nicolas Spolli because of a thigh one. They need a couple of weeks to shake them off, while Davide Biraschi is closer and might be called up this week. Adel Taarabt continues to be hampered by a bad back.

Sassuolo: Edoardo Goldaniga and Stefano Sensi are expected to miss another game due to hamstring problems, Pol Lirola is out for the season with a meniscus tear. Simone Missiroli is questionable because of a sore shoulder.

Udinese: Valon Behrami could return from a hamstring strain, Stryger Larsen and Kevin Lasagna are more uncertain due to their small thigh ailments but they have a chance. Gabriele Angella is out because of a calf pull.

Cagliari: Daniele Dessena is not expected to be available because of a hamstring strain, Diego Farias and Alessandro Deiola are questionable with thigh and calf muscle fatigue. Senna Miangue is dealing with hip flexor fatigue.

Chievo: a clean bill of health for the Flying Donkeys.

Spal: the injury crisis is over as they have recovered Pasquale Schiattarella, Alberto Grassi, Federico Mattiello, Jasmin Kurtic and Boukary Drame, but they are not all certain to play in the weekend. Filippo Costa got hurt in the weekend and his injury has not been disclosed yet, Marco Borriello continues to deal with a calf edema.

Crotone: other than Ahmad Benali and Ante Budimir, who are likely done for the season due to foot fractures, all the other players should be good to go, including Andrea Nalini. Giovanni Crociata is out with the flu.

Verona: as usual, a lot of injuries for the Scaligeri. Marco Fossati bruised his shoulder, Simone Calvano is trying to come back from an adductor pull, Moise Kean from a serious hamstring strain, Deian Boldor from a knee sprain. Marcel Buchel is fatigued. Matteo Bianchetti has a edema in his hip and should miss time. Alex Ferrari is suspended, Mattia Zaccagni is out for the season due to a patellar tendon reconstruction.

Benevento: Guilherme suffered a MCL sprain and is unlikely to return this season. Ledjan Memushaj has been dealing with a sprained ankle for a while, Marco D’Alessandro with a tweaked knee. Andrea Costa has missed time as well, but it is not clear what has been affecting him.
