Serie A Injury and Suspension Report – Round 26

Juventus: Cristiano Ronaldo had a little scare midweek due to an ankle bruise, but he should be able to feature against Napoli. Douglas Costa (quad) is still out of commission, while Sami Khedira is trying to return earlier than expected from his heart problem.

Napoli: Mario Rui will be back in the squad list after missing time with a thigh sprain and Amin Younes could be called up as well after nursing his surgically repaired Achilles tendon away from the team for a while. Arkadiusz Milik was a little fatigued this week, but he should be fine.

Inter: Balde Keita (thigh) and Mauro Icardi (knee) have not been called up like in recent weeks.

Milan: Franck Kessiè subbed off after being kneed in the thigh against Lazio, but he has recovered. Mattia Caldara is poised to play with the youth team to put some minutes in his legs after a lengthy absence. Suso needs to be managed due to a sore groin.

Roma: Kostas Manolas bowed out against Frosinone because of an ankle sprain, but the developments have been encouraging ahead of the Derby. Rick Karsdorp and Patrik Schick should both be back after missing time with thigh strains, while Cengiz Under had a little setback in his recovery.

Lazio: Luis Alberto returned in Coppa Italia from his latest muscular problem and Luiz Felipe was available for that game too. Wallace has a chance to be back from a thigh injury. So the only sidelined players could be Valon Berisha for a calf ailment and Jordan Lukaku for a sore patellar tendon. Adam Marusic has an achy knee but he is expected to be at his coach’s disposal anyway. Ciro Immobile had a hiccup in the final practice and may not play.

Atalanta: Alejandro Gomez played midweek after skipping the last Serie A match. Robin Gosens is questionable due to an inflamed scar in the flexor of his left thigh.

Torino: Koffi Djidji is expected to be available after a knee sprain.

Fiorentina: Kevin Mirallas is back in the squad list after sitting out for a while because of a calf strain and also German Pezzella has been called up.

Sampdoria: Albin Ekdal is suspended, Gaston Ramirez (calf), Lorenzo Tonelli and Edgar Barreto could be sidelined again after skipping the last contest and Nicola Murru could join them after subbing off last week. The fullback is the one with the biggest chances to recover.

Sassuolo: Alfred Duncan is disqualified. Enrico Brignola underwent surgery for a fractured finger so his presence is in doubt.

Genoa: Luca Mazzitelli and Andrea Favilli should stay on the mend, while Stefano Sturaro is progressing in his recovery from an Achilles injury and he is available. Miguel Veloso is out with the flu.

Parma: Alessandro Bastoni (knee) was able to practice fully this week after missing the previous game, so they could be available, while Leo Stulac (ankle), Matteo Scozzarella (calf) and Fabio Ceravolo (thigh) are slated to be out again.

Cagliari: Fabrizio Cacciatore (calf), Cyril Thereau (thigh) and Kiril Despodov (back) have been called up after missing time. Valter Birsa (forearm fracture), Alberto Cerri (thigh) and Ragnar Klavan (Achilles) remain on the shelf, joined by Alessandro Deiola, who is suspended, and Filippo Romagna, who has a sore patellar tendon.

SPAL: Emiliano Viviano was surprisingly absent last week due to a last-minute knee problem, but he has recuperated. Manuel Lazzari is poised to skip another one with his thigh (biceps femoris) pull. Marko Jankovic is ready to contribute after sports hernia surgery.

Udinese: Seko Fofana is disqualified. Sandro should be back after a muscular ailment, while Antonin Barak (back pain), Valon Behrami (thigh strain) and Samir (ankle) are not available this week. Marco D’Alessandro picked up a calf injury in their last game and he will be out of commission this week.

Empoli: Domenico Maietta is questionable for a calf problem, while Luca Antonelli is out with a thigh (rectus femoris) strain.

Bologna: Erick Pulgar is suspended, Rodrigo Palacio and Federico Mattiello are primed to return after minor muscular injuries, while Mattia Destro will be on the mend again in this round due to a thigh (semimembranosus muscle) strain he suffered two weeks ago. Nicola Sansone is fatigued.

Frosinone: they will have back Luca Paganini (tonsillitis), Lorenzo Ariaudo (ankle sprain) and Stefan Simic (thigh pull), but Francesco Zampano is questionable with a bruised toe.

Chievo: Sergio Pellissier remains very iffy with the thigh strain he has been trying to shake off for a couple of weeks. Nenad Tomovic and Nicolas Frey are dealing with a similar issue. Perparim Hetemaj is suspended.
