Serie A Injury and Suspension Report – Round 25

Atalanta: Berat Djimsiti was a late scratch for the Champions League game but he is simply dealing with a bruised quad and so he could be available on Sunday. Tomas Sutalo continues nursing a foot edema.

Bologna: Stefano Denswil and Jerdy Schouten were red carded last week. Gary Medel (hamstring) and Roberto Soriano (thigh bruise) are the closest to recovering, but this week is too early for them. Mitchell Dijks (foot) and Ladislav Krejci (knee) will not be back before the end of the month, same for Federico Santander (hip) and Nicola Sansone (hamstring). Mattias Svanberg picked up a thigh strain and will miss three-to-four weeks.

Brescia: Florian Aye is suspended. Sandro Tonali, Jesse Joronen and Daniele Gastaldello have been called up after missing one game, while Andrea Cistana, Ernesto Torregrossa and Romulo remain sidelined.

Cagliari: Nahitan Nandez is disqualified, but Marko Rog is expected back from a thigh strain. Fabrizio Cacciatore has more chances to return than Paolo Faragò, as they are both dealing with hamstring issues. Luca Cigarini is under the weather. 

Fiorentina: Milan Badelj was sent off last week, Franck Ribery is still weeks away from coming back from his ankle sprain.

Genoa: Stefano Sturaro is suspended due to yellow-card accumulation. Goran Pandev subbed off last week but it turned out to be just a knee contusion and he is available Lasse Schone has been called up after skipping one with muscle fatigue, while Cristian Romero will miss another one with a minor knee sprain. Marko Pajac (tibia) and Lukas Lerager, who suffered a new adductor tendon issue, will be on the mend a little longer. Ivan Radovanovic tore his ACL and he is done for the season. Andrea Pinamonti was a late scratch with an undisclosed problem. 

Inter: Roberto Gagliardini (foot) and Samir Handanovic (hand) remain questionable with their bone problems. Sebastiano Esposito could be back from muscle fatigue, while Stefano Sensi needs more time with his navicular bone infraction. Marcelo Brozovic is nursing a sore ankle. 

Juventus: Leonardo Bonucci is suspended. Miralem Pjanic bowed out last week and, while the tests indicated that he avoided a strain, he will miss least one game. Gonzalo Higuain is instead dealing with back pain. Federico Bernardeschi is poised to return from a calf ailment, while Sami Khedira is getting closer but he is not available this week.

Lazio: Luiz Felipe is disqualified, Senad Lulic will be back in mid-March. Francesco Acerbi picked up an undisclosed ailment late in the week, but he should be good to go. 

Lecce: Filippo Falco suffered a hamstring injury last week and will be out of commission for up to a month. Khouma Babacar has some chances for this week, while Diego Farias is unlikely. Riccardo Saponara is iffy with an undisclosed muscular problem. Biagio Meccariello should be available after a short absence, while Andrea Rispoli could be held out.

Milan: Simon Kjaer sustained a minor hamstring strain and will skip two or three games. Hakan Calhanoglu is slated to return from a one-game absence caused by a hip muscle problem and Mateo Musacchio should be fine too after suffering a contracture while warming up on Monday. Alexis Saelemaekers is undergoing evaluations after rolling his ankle in practice.

Napoli: Arkadiusz Milik is available after sitting one out with knee soreness, but Kalidou Koulibaly is still being managed due to a bothersome hamstring. Fernando Llorente is out with the flu.

Parma: Dejan Kulusevski is poised to play after being in and out of the infirmary over the last couple of weeks. Mattia Darmian is instead questionable due to a sore Achilles. Their other injured midfielders, Juraj Kucka, Antonino Barillà and Matteo Scozzarella, all dealing with hamstring issues, are not expected back this week. Vincent Laurini will miss time with a calf strain. 

Roma: Amadou Diawara did not manage to make the squad list, but he getting closer after his meniscus injury. 

Sampdoria: Nicola Murru and Gaston Ramirez are suspended.

Sassuolo: Hamed Traore could be back earlier than expected from his ankle sprain, although he is not a slam dunk for this week. Vlad Chiriches (hamstring) is getting closer.

SPAL: Francesco Vicari and Bryan Dabo have both recovered from the thigh problem that held them out last week. while Alberto Cerri will stay out with his flexor strain. Marco D’Alessandro is close to returning from an ACL tear.

Torino: Ola Aina suffered an abdomen problem in practice but he should shake it off in time, while Vincenzo Millico is questionable with back spasms.

Udinese: Sebastien De Maio (thigh) and Sebastian Prodl (knee) remain on the mend.

Verona: Miguel Veloso is banned due to yellow-card accumulation. Samuel Di Carmine is trying to recover in time from muscle fatigue. Fabio Borini suffered a grade one thigh (rectus femoris) strain and will be sidelined for two-to-three weeks. Giampaolo Pazzini is out with a calf problem. Marco Davide Faraoni has a bum ankle.
