Lorenzo Montipò: Benevento had struggled defensively in the first two matches, and that was a little uncharacteristic given the type of team they were last season, but they bounced back and held a clean sheet versus Bologna, also thanks to the heroics of their last bulwark, who stopped the opponents on point-blank attempts at least three times.

Theo Hernandez (9 points): Milan have yet to concede this season and the Spaniard sealed the Spezia game with one of his glorious sprints down the left flank, switching field position in a hurry after stripping an opponent and capping it off with a pinpoint strike in the bottom corner. Atalanta: Hans Hateboer is suspended, while Josip Ilicic again was left out to work on his conditioning.

Bologna: Mitchell Dijks is disqualified, Jerdy Schouten (thigh) remains sidelined.

Roma loan Florenzi and add trio of youngsters

After 18 years, as he joined the youth academy when he was 11, and eight seasons as a fixture of the first team and 277 appearances, Alessandro Florenzi has left Roma, at least temporarily. The versatile player, who in the last three years has found his role as right back, will finish the season at Valencia. Florenzi aims at being a regular starter, which he no longer was in the Italian Capital, to retain his spot in the Euro 2020 roster with Azzurri.  The Giallorossi will move forward with Aleksandar Kolarov, Leonardo Spinazzola, Davide Santon and Bruno Peres as their top fullbacks and the Italian duo can feature on both flanks.  Continue reading

Serie A Transfer Market Final Weekly Recap

There were not quite fireworks in the last week on the transfer market, which saw the minnows complete a fully of moves to try to bolster their squads. After selling Krzysztof Piatek, Genoa were one of the most active one, as they added Chievo centre-piece Ivan Radovanovic and Lukas Lerager from Bordeaux to revamp their midfield and Andràs Schafer to have one more alternative on the flanks. The first two could be regular starters, especially because Sandro was sent to Udinese. Boca Juniors long chased Atalanta’s José-Luis Palomino, but they had to settle for Lisandro Lopez.
