Standings implications: Juventus and Inter continue to forge ahead at the same pace, as the Bianconeri successfully turned around late the demanding match-up against Atalanta, while the Beneamata had an easy time handling Torino. Lazio extended his winning streak to five matches in dramatic fashion, thus defending the third spot from the ambitions of Roma, which instead housed Brescia. Milan and Napoli shared the spoils in a predictably underwhelming contest. Verona’s strong season continued with a one-nil win over Fiorentina, while Bologna and Parma shared the spoils in a thrilling Derby. Sampdoria outlasted Udinese. Cagliari lost some ground since they threw away a two-nothing lead against Lecce. SPAL and Genoa drew in the Monday night game, which really left nobody satisfied. Continue reading
Pau Lopez: Roma have not given up more than one goal in four consecutive contests and they will face the least productive offense on the League, Udinese’s, which has scored just five times so far. The Spaniard goalie is not very flashy but he gets the job done.
Matteo Darmian: Parma have a plus match-up on the docket versus Verona, which famously have trouble hitting the net. Their back-line is down to bare bones after the injuries to Bruno Alves and Riccardo Gagliolo, but it should be enough in this one and Darmian also participates actively to the offense. Lecce-Juventus: the Salentini have weirdly been better away than at home, but, in any case, they are set to be pesky in most of the contests due to their daring style. While Gianluca Lapadula was out nursing an injury, Khouma Babacar proved to be a better reference point for the offense, even though he is unlikely to be particularly consistent in terms of scoring. With his latest performance, Diego Farias is seriously threating the starting job of Filippo Falco, who has not been able to produce despite starting in the eight matches. Marco Mancosu has instead bagged four goals, three on penalties, and he is always lurking as the trailer. Andrea Tabanelli is the other midfield tasked with meaningful offensive duties, while left back Marco Calderoni has found the target twice from distance so far. Continue reading
Standings implications: the top two teams prevailed as Juventus defeated Bologna, while Inter survived Sassuolo’s late rally. Napoli got closer to the third spot after besting Verona since Atalanta three away a three-nothing lead against Lazio. Roma stumbled away against Sampdoria. Cagliari remain in the high-end district thanks to an easy win over SPAL and they have now put together the best start in their history. Milan got halted at the one-yard line by Lecce despite a decent debut for Stefano Pioli. Fiorentina’s winning streak was stopped by Brescia. Parma humilated Genoa, while Udinese grabbed another home win. Continue reading
Standings implications: Inter and Juventus gained some ground in the standings thanks to their wins over Lazio and Brescia, as Napoli were stunned at home by Cagliari. Atalanta are now in third after an excellent victory over Roma. The Sardinians are right there in fifth. Parma took advantage of Sassuolo’s road woes, while Genoa and Bologna and Verona and Udinese shared the spoils in goalless matches. In the lower zones, Fiorentina finally prevailed, over the reeling Sampdoria, while Lecce sunk SPAL away. Torino mounted an improbable comeback against Milan, considering how the game was going up to that point and moved to the 4th spot. Continue reading
