Atlanta have been quite a surprise in Serie A this season. They currently occupy the sixth spot and are just two points behind third-placed Napoli. Their success has been built on defensive solidarity, and that reflects in our fantasy football rankings. Atlanta goalkeeper Etrit Berisha occupied the top spot in our goalkeeper list, and now two Atlanta defenders sit at the peak of our top-five Serie A defenders list.

Young Atlanta defender Mattia Caldara is having quite an exceptional this season. The 22-year-old, who spent last season on loan at Serie B club Cesena, has made 11 league starts this season and has kept seven clean sheets. He has also scored three goals. The product of Atlanta youth academy has managed 42 points, and he is also the cheapest player in our list 4m. Understandably, he has a very high Performance/Price (P/P) value of 11.8.

Atlanta’s Italian right-back Andrea Masiello is the second-best defender in Serie A so far this season. The 30-year-old, who was embroiled in a betting scandal some years back, has made 16 starts and has accumulated 39 points. He has kept seven clean sheets and has also contributed with three goals and one assist. He is available for 6m in the market, and that gives him a more-than-decent P/P score of 7.3m.

The next two spots on our list are occupied by the players of league-leaders Juventus. First, we have veteran centre-back Georgio Chiellini at number three spot in our list. The 32-year-old, who is available at 9.5m, has managed 35 points this season. He has kept five clean sheets in 11 starts this season. He has also contributed significantly going forward with two goals and two assists. His P/P ratio is a bit on the lower side at 4.2.

Next Juventus player on our list is Alex Sandro. The Brazilian has continued his fine form in his second season in Italian football. The pacey and energetic left-back has made 16 starts this season and has kept six clean sheets. He is costlier than Chiellini at 10m and has 33 points to show for his performances this season. The 25-year-old has also scored one goal and provided three assists. His P/P value of 3.8 is the lowest in our list.

The last spot in our top-five is taken by Empoli defender Andrea Costa. The 30-year-old has managed 13 starts and has picked up 29 points. He is reasonably priced at 6m, and that gives him a decent P/P score of 4.7. He has kept seven clean sheets and has scored a winner in the 2-1 win against Crotone early in the season.
