Italian football is going through a winter break, and that means Serie A fantasy football is also on a break until January 7. While football takes a break in continental Europe, we have decided to take a glance at the best performers in the major European Leagues. In this feature, we are covering the top five goalkeepers in Serie A so far this season.

Etrit Berisha of Atlanta is a surprising name at the top of the pile. The Albanian, who is currently on loan at Atlanta from Lazio, has collected 31 points so far this season, and, additionally, he is the cheapest player on our list at 3m. This means that he has an exceptional Performance/Price (P/P) value of 12.7. If you are looking for a cheap option in the goalkeeping position, then, Berisha is an obvious choice. He has managed to keep five clean sheets in ten starts this season and has conceded only seven goals in the process.

The second spot is also occupied by a player who is currently on a loan move. And it’s not Joe Hart. It’s Wojciech Szczęsny of AS Roma, on loan from Arsenal. The Poland international is just one point behind Berisha at 30 points. He is valued at 8m, and that makes his P/P ratio 4.6. He is quite costly than Berisha, but he still makes for a decent addition to the team.

The third spot is occupied by Italy and Juventus legend Gianluigi Buffon. The veteran has once again been exceptional this season and has managed 29 points from 15 starts. He has conceded only 13 goals and has managed to keep five clean sheets. However, Buffon is remarkably costly at 14m, and that will surely put off a lot of fantasy football managers. Due to his high price, his P/P ratio is the lowest in our top five at 2.6.

Stefano Sorrentino of Chievo Verona is the next name on our list. The veteran goalkeeper, who returned to Chievo from Palermo for the second spell at the club during summer, has amassed 25 points from 18 starts this season. He has managed to keep six clean sheets in the process. He is reasonably priced at 4.5m, and thus, has a decent P/P value of 5.1.

The likes of Joe Hart and Gianluigi Donnarumma have failed to make our list, and the last spot is occupied by Pepe Reina of Napoli. The former Liverpool star has pipped AC Milan’s youth prodigy by a solitary point. The Spaniard, who is valued at 6.5m, has 23 points on the board. He has conceded 21 goals in 18 starts and has six clean sheets. His P/P value stands at 3.2.
