Top Five Fantasy Defenders – Premier League – Round 38

Hector Bellerin Arsenal
Another year is nearing an end in the life of football fans as we move towards the last gameweek in Premier League. Chelsea have already been crowned the league champions, and the relegation battle was also settled last week.

However, the battle for top-four places is still on with Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal vying for two spots. In important fixtures this week, Chelsea will host Sunderland, Tottenham will travel to Hull City.

Our list of top defenders is still dominated by the players from Chelsea and Tottenham, but both clubs are likely to rest their first-team players for the season-ending fixtures.

Hence, we have decided to focus on the players who are likely to feature for their respective teams this week.

1. Kyle Walker – Tottenham

The England international didn’t feature in the 2-1 win over Manchester United, and we expect him to feature in the game at Hull. He is available for 8m on the market and has 72 points. In 33 appearances, he has helped with 15 clean sheets. The 26-year-old has also contributed with five assists.

P/P Score: 8.9

2. Vincent Kompany – Manchester City

The Belgian centre-back has been a massive boost to his side in the recent weeks. Due to his injuries, he has managed only ten league appearances this season. However, we are backing him to start at Watford on Sunday. The 8.5m defender has managed to put together 16 points this season. To his credit, he has been a part of three clean sheets and has scored two goals.

P/P Score: 1.8

3. Hector Bellerin – Arsenal

The Spaniard is set to start for the Gunners against Everton as Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is still ruled out with an injury. The 22-year-old has been decent for Arsenal in the last couple of games, and we are backing him to continue to excel in the new formation. He is valued at 8m and has 46 points in his account. In 32 league appearances this season, he has been a part of 12 clean sheets and has also provided four assists.

P/P Score: 6.4

4. Nathaniel Clyne – Liverpool

The Liverpool right-back is available for 7m on the market and has 43 points to show for his efforts this season. He has been ever-present in the Reds’ starting eleven and has managed 36 league starts. He has picked up 11 clean sheets and has also provided a couple of assists.

P/P Score: 6.9

5. Ryan Bertrand – Southampton

The Southampton full-back, available at 7.5m in the market, has picked up 53 points this season. The Saints face Stoke City at home, and we are backing Bertrand to pick up some points. Besides 12 clean sheets in 27 starts, he has also contributed with two goals and four assists.
