There are a pair of key injured players to keep an eye on ahead of the next Serie A round.

Napoli:  Marek Hamsik was subbed off at halftime last week because of some back pain, but he played in Europa League. Raul Albiol missed the last three games because of muscle fatigue, but he could return on Sunday. On the other hand, Vlad Chiriches will be sidelined for a couple of weeks by a pulled hamstring. Arek Milik is progressing in his rehab protocol, but Faouzi Ghoulam had a big setback, even though unrelated to the previous ACL tear: he fractured his patella and had to undergo surgery; per the club statement, he will resume practicing in a month and it will be awhile before he plays in an official game.

Juventus:  Paulo Dybala and Benedikt Howedes have practiced fully and they should be on the squad list in the next game. Blaise Matuidi and Juan Cuadrado are out for at least two more games, the Colombian probably a little longer than that, and Andrea Barzagli and Stephan Lichtsteiner could join them on the shelf due to minor muscular problems to the calf and the hamstring respectively. Mario Mandzukic has a bruised hip, but most importantly he has caught the flu and will miss the game. Federico Bernardeschi is also questionable with some muscle fatigue.

Inter:  Joao Miranda will miss the next game due to a pulled hamstring after being taken out of the last fixture. Ivan Perisic played through some sort of shoulder injury and Mauro Icardi was ruled out late last week for a hamstring pull: they will play it safe with them and they have not been called up.

Roma:  Daniele De Rossi played some minutes against Benevento, so he is ready to go. Maxime Gonalons (calf), Jonathan Silva and Rick Karsdorp (knee) remain out.

Lazio: Lucas Leiva is suspended. The only other absentee will be the usual one, Davide Di Gennaro, who is having a tough time returning from a calf strain. Felipe Anderson patched things up with Filippo Inzaghi.

Sampdoria:  Dennis Praet will miss the next game, but he could return earlier than expected. Vid Belec will serve the final game of his suspension.

Milan:  Franck Kessie is suspended. Nikola Kalinic continues to deal with a sore groin, which is a tricky problem. Andrea Conti continues to recover from an ACL tear and could resume practicing regularly in a couple of weeks.

Atalanta: Alejandro Gomez and Mattia Caldara played in Europa League after missing time due to back injuries, but the defender got hurt again and the forward could get a maintenance day in order not to overload him. Luca Rizzo is working his way back from a severe hamstring strain, but he could be out for three or four more games. Cornelius has the flu.

Torino: the youngster Lyanco is the only one in danger of missing the derby because of an ankle sprain.

Udinese:  Kevin Lasagna suffered a grade 2 biceps femoris strain in his hamstring, which usually takes 45-60 days to heal. This means that he will have a tough time returning before the next international break. Ali Adnan could be at least called up after missing considerable time with a hamstring strain, while Francesco Zampano should be available despite some muscle fatigue this week.

Fiorentina: Vincent Laurini seems poised to miss another game due to a pair of plantar fascia strains.

Genoa: Armando Izzo and Miguel Veloso need more time to return from their injuries. Aleandro Rosi and Giuseppe Rossi have a chance to be available. Adel Taarabt looked on track to play but he stopped practicing again due to back spasms and will be out once again. Andrej Galabinov was subbed off last week due to an apparent muscular injury. Davide Biraschi will be sidelined by a sore hamstring.

Bologna: Rodrigo Palacio, Adam Masina and Ibrahima Mbaye are suspended, while Simone Verdi is still out with a hamstring strain.

Cagliari:  Luca Cigarini suffered a foot fracture last week and he is expected to be out for a month. Filippo Romagna rolled an ankle midweek and he is questionable. Paolo Faragò is available after missing one game.

Sassuolo: Matteo Politano is not in tip top shape, but he should be out there in the next outing, leaving Timo Letschert as the only player on the injured list.

Chievo:  Nenad Tomovic resumed practicing with the rest of the group and will stake his claim on the starting job.

Crotone: Adrian Stoian suffered a calf strain, which will force him to miss about 20 days. Mario Sampirisi resumed training with a mask after a cheekbone fracture. Marco Tumminello will return later on from an ACL tear.

Spal:  Marco Borriello could return this week as he appears to have solved the calf edema that was bothering him. Federico Mattiello is suspended. Thiago Cionek underwent eye surgery for a delicate bruise there and will sit this week. Eros Schiavon is trying to recover from a calf strain.

Verona: Alex Ferrari missed the last game for a problem that was not revealed and that limited him in practice week. Mattia Zaccagni is not far from returning from a challenging patellar tendon inflammation, while Alessio Cerci will need two-three more weeks.

Benevento:  Danilo Cataldi is expected to be out again due to a muscular problem, but no other injury concerns besides Luca Antei, who is out for the year.
