Here are the updates on few players’ conditions ahead of the upcoming Serie A round.
Juventus: Medhi Benatia is suspended. Stephan Lichtsteiner was subbed off midweek due to some back pain and Benedikt Howedes missed the last game due to muscle fatigue, but they are both available this week. Sami Khedira is not because of the flu. Juan Cuadrado and Federico Bernardeschi continue to rehab their tough injuries: it is not a given that they will be able to return this season.
Napoli: Vlad Chiriches appeared ready last week after a hamstring (biceps femoris) pull, but it looks like he will need a little more time. Faouzi Ghoulam is recovering from a patella fracture.
Roma: Daniele De Rossi is disqualified. Gregorie Defrel was held out last week due to an undisclosed issue, which did not sound too serious but could sideline him again. Cengiz Under iced his knee after being subbed off in the Champions League game, but he is expected to be fine. Diego Perotti is out with a last-minute injury.
Lazio: Sergej Milinkovic-Savic did not play midweek due to some muscle fatigue and he is questionable for Sunday night. Adam Marusic returned after experiencing some back pain. Martin Caceres missed the last two games due to a muscular ailment. Senad Lulic is out with an injury.
Inter: Andrea Ranocchia has thigh (biceps femoris) strain that will keep him out for about 20 days.
Milan: Davide Calabria was not called up against Arsenal because of muscle fatigue and he will not be available in the weekend as well. Ignazio Abate is out with a calf strain. Andrea Conti could return after the break from an early ACL tear. Alessio Romagnoli is out due to muscle fatigue.
Sampdoria: Bartosz Bereszynski could be available after being sidelined by adductor tendinopathy, while Jacopo Sala had to be taken out from the last game because of an apparent muscular injury. Emiliano Viviano has some intense back pain that could force him to rest. Gianluca Caprari has had the flu this week. Karol Linetty is suspended.
Atalanta: Gianluca Mancini received a red card in the last game, while Luca Rizzo is set to be out a little longer. Alejandro Gomez is banged up but available, while Mattia Caldara is once again out due to a sore back.
Fiorentina: Nikola Milenkovic has a small problem that could keep him out.
Torino: Adam Ljajic, Lorenzo De Silvestri and Mbaye Niang should be back after suffering minor muscular problems, but the final call will be made later on. On the other hand, Joel Obi needs more time to solve a thigh issue. Lyanco is out with a foot trauma, Cristian Molinaro with a fractured fibula.
Udinese: Danilo is poised to return after a hamstring strain, while Kevin Lasagna will be available after the break. Gabriele Angella has a bruised tibia.
Bologna: Andrea Poli will be held out by a foot strain, while Riccardo Orsolini will miss up to a month with a thigh (biceps femoris) strain. Sebastien De Maio has had the flu this week, but he should be ready. Backup goalie Angelo Da Costa has some back pain. Blerin Dzemaili suffered a blow to the head last week, but he is said to be fine.
Genoa: Adel Taarabt is having some hard time shaking off a back injury and his presence on Sunday night is uncertain. Miguel Veloso (calf) and Armando Izzo (MCL sprain) are unlikely to be at Ballardini’s disposal this week. Nicolas Spolli and Luca Rossettini are both banged up, but one of the two will have to play.
Cagliari: Charalampos Lykogiannis missed the last game due to a calf problem and he is questionable. Diego Farias and Marco Sau have recovered from their muscular ailments. Alessio Cragno is recovering from a thigh bruise. Joao Pedro was popped for a diuretic: he is now on a precautionary suspension until the ruling, he is facing a one-year disqualification. Luca Cigarini remains out with a foot fracture.
Chievo: Riccardo Meggiorini and Alessandro Gamberini are dinged up and might miss the Milan tilt.
Crotone: Stefan Simic, Marcus Rohden and Mariano Izco are expected to miss another game with their respective muscular issues. It will be a while before Ante Budimir returns from a foot fracture, while Marco Tumminello might come back after the break for an early ACL tear.
Sassuolo: Domerico Berardi, Antonino Ragusa and Federico Peluso are all suspended. Timo Letschert is out with an ACL tear, but could return within a month.
Spal: Marco Borriello continues to nurse an edema in his calf that has ruined his season. Federico Mattiello is out with an ankle sprain.
Verona: Moise Kean went down with a grade 3 thigh (adductor longus tendon) strain that will sideline him considerable time. Mattia Valoti should be available after a pulled calf, Marcel Buchel after a knock on the knee. Jagos Vukovic and Deian Boldor are questionable due to minor muscular ailments. Alessio Cerci remains sidelined by a hamstring strain.
Benevento: Sandro is trying a quick recover from a calf strain and he has shot for this week. Marco D’Alessandro resumed practicing fully after a knee (MCL) sprain, so he has a chance to be available as well. Pietro Iemmello’s knee flared up again. Lorenzo Del Pinto is suspended.
