Serie A Player Status Updates – Round 35


Here are the updates on few players’ conditions ahead of the upcoming round.

Juventus: Giorgio Chiellini suffered a hamstring (biceps femoris) strain just above the knee and will miss at least three weeks, with the risk of not returning this season. Mattia De Sciglio is out with a plantar fascia injury, Stefano Sturaro with a sore Achilles.

Napoli: no absentees other than the usual one Faouzi Ghoulam.

Roma: Diego Perotti and Kevin Strootman have already been ruled out due to an ankle sprain and a rib contusion. El Monito’s ailment is more severe since there is some ligament damage. Gregoire Defrel and Rick Karsdorp remain out following knee surgeries. 

Lazio: Marco Parolo will not play this week due to a thigh pull, but the problem is less serious than expected. Jordan Lukaku is questionable due to an undisclosed injury.

Inter: Borja Valero had an illness in the last few days, but he is expected to be available. Roberto Gagliardini is out for at least two more weeks with a hamstring strain.

Atalanta: Josip Ilicic has finally gotten past a knee sprain, José-Luis Palomino is back as well after missing one game. Hans Hateboer got a knock on the foot, but he should be OK. Leonardo Spinazzola is out this week, same for Luca Rizzo.

Milan: Hakan Calhanoglu has recovered from a knee inflammation, but Lucas Biglia fractured two vertebras, putting his presence for the remainder of the season in jeopardy. Alessio Romagnoli and Andrea Conti are out with their respective injuries.

Sampdoria: Duvan Zapata avoided a hip strain, but he will still miss the next game. Gianluca Caprari could join him on the shelfs due a hamstring (biceps femoris) ailment. Ricky Alvarez rolled an ankle in practice. Nicola Murru is out for the season.

Fiorentina: Bryan Dabo is suspended. Milan Badelj has worked his ways back from a knee sprain and Cyril Thereau is available as well. Vitor Hugo has suffered a hamstring (biceps femoris) strain. Simone Lo Faso is out.

Torino: Iago Falque has a shot to play this week after skipping one game due to thigh muscle fatigue. Antonio Barreca and Joel Obi are sidelined by hamstring strains. Cristian Ansaldi is suspended, Lyanco is out for the season.

Genoa: they will be down three defenders this week, as Armando Izzo and Nicolas Spolli are dealing with muscular strains, Pedro Pereira with an ankle sprain. Adel Taarabt might be available after battling back spasms.

Bologna: Erick Pulgar is expected to return after missing a pair with muscle fatigue, same for Vasilis Torosidis. Godfred Donsah and Filip Helander remain out with a knee sprain and a rib fracture, while Mattia Destro is on the wrong side of questionable due to an unspecified knee problem.

Sassuolo: Claud Adjapong is suspended. Matteo Politano is a little fatigued, but he should be good to go. Stefano Sensi and Edoardo Goldaniga remain out with thigh injuries, Pol Lirola with a torn meniscus.

Cagliari: Diego Farias and Andrea Cossu are back after muscular problems, while Daniele Dessena, Senna Miangue, Romagna and Ceter have been ruled out with muscular issues.

Udinese: Jakub Jankto is suspended, while Rodrigo De Paul’s knee flared up. Gabriele Angella is trying to return from a calf strain.

Chievo: Riccardo Meggiorini has been ruled out.

Crotone: no problems other than the long-term ones to Ante Budimir and Ahmad Benali.

Spal: Alex Meret hurt his shoulder and he will have a tough time returning this season. Francesco Vicari, Mirco Antenucci and Filippo Costa are dealing with muscular traumas and are questionable. Marco Borriello remain out with his never-ending calf injury.

Verona: Romulo tweaked and ankle but he should be fine. No further absences other than the usual ones: Moise Kean due to a hamstring strain, Matteo Bianchetti because of a hip edema and Mattia Zaccagni for a patellar tendon surgery.

Benevento: few nicks and bruises for the Sanniti, as Filip Djuricic, Cristiano Lombardi and Enrico Brignola are dealing with small ailments. Ledjan Memushaj and Marco D’Alessandro have missed considerable time with an ankle and a knee sprain respectively. Cheick Diabate is suspended. Guilherme and Antei are out for the season. Puggioni has a sore knee.
