Serie A Player Status Updates – Round 2

Juventus: Mattia De Sciglio is out again with a hamstring ailment.

Napoli: Alex Meret remains out for arm fracture, he should miss the next one as well. No issue for Lorenzo Insigne after last week’s blow to the knee. Fabian Ruis is out with muscle fatigue.

Roma: Diego Perotti is nursing a bruised ankle, but he might be in the squad.

Inter: Milan Skriniar is available, Radja Nainggolan should be as well, but he is more likely to feature off the bench.

Lazio: Luiz Felipe suffered a grade 1-2 calf strain and will miss four to six weeks. Valon Berisha needs more time to recover from a thigh strain, Jordan Lukaku will try to come back after the break from some knee tendinopathy. Senad Lulic and Lucas Leiva served their suspensions, while Patric has one more game to go. Adam Marusic suffered a knock on the ankle but is expected to play.

Milan: Hakan Calhanoglu is disqualified, Pepe Reina (hip) and Ignazio Abate and Cristian Zapata (hamstring) should be regularly on the bench. Andrea Conti is at least a month away from coming back from a second knee surgery, while Ivan Strinic is out indefinitely due to a heart hypertrophy.

Atalanta:  José Palomino is trying to solve a hamstring problem, while Marco Tumminello has a sore knee and they are both questionable. Josip Ilicic has left the hospital after a mouth infection and a lymph node inflammation that sidelined him for over a month, but he will need two-three weeks to find the right condition.

Fiorentina: Jordan Veretout is suspended, Cyril Thereau is iffy with a hamstring (biceps femoris) strain he got a couple of weeks ago. Marko Pjaca and Kevin Mirallas have some conditioning issues.

Torino: Lorenzo De Silvestri and Armando Izzo were subbed off in the last game, the fullback because of a rib contusion, the centre-back an ankle sprain. They are not overly serious injuries, but they might keep them out this week. Daniele Baselli turned his knee in practice and the severity of the problem has yet to be assessed. Simone Edera and Mbaye Niang did not play last week due to muscle fatigue, but they should be ready from this one. Lyanco returned from Brazil after foot surgery, but he needs one more month to fully recover.

Sampdoria: Dennis Praet sprained his knee last week and will at best be available next week, but more likely after the break. Gianluca Caprari is suspended. Vasco Regini is out until January due to an ACL tear.

Sassuolo: Federico Peluso is expected to remain on the shelf with a muscular ailment, while Mauricio Lemos is available. Filip Djuricic is out. 

Genoa:  Iuri Medeiros and Luca Mazzitelli have recovered from hamstring issues, while Sandro will miss a couple of games because of knee edema.

Chievo: Stefano Sorrentino has suffered a nasal fracture, a whiplash and a shoulder bruise in the clash with Cristiano Ronaldo, but he has not been ruled out for this week yet. Bostjan Cesar has a sore meniscus.

Udinese: Juan Musso is doubtful because his index injury has not healed yet. Andrija Balic is out with a hamstring pull, Marco D’Alessandro is likely to sit as well.

Bologna: Mattia Destro seems to have recovered from a hamstring strain, while Nehuen Paz will be out for a month due to a knee sprain. Adam Nagy is suspended. Juan Valencia has an ankle sprain. Rodrigo Palacio suffered a thigh (flexor) strain and will be out for three weeks. 

SPAL: Johan Djourou, Federico Viviani and Sergio Floccari should be OK after missing last week, Kevin Bonifazi remains out.

Cagliari: Darijo Srna is available after a lengthy suspension, but he has not seen action in a while. Luca Ceppitelli has suffered a calf strain that will keep him out for 2-3 more weeks.

Empoli: Domenico Maietta remains out with a hamstring strain, Alejandro Rodriguez needs a couple of months to come back from an ACL tear.

Parma: compared to last week, Marcello Gazzola is the only one with a serious chance of returning. Jacopo Dezi and Amato Ciciretti are not out long-term, but they should skip another one. Alessandro Bastoni, Gianni Munari and Matteo Scozzarella remain out.

Frosinone:  Federico Dionisi has suffered an ACL tear and will be out for five/six months, joining Mirko Gori and Luca Paganini as another long-term injury list. Rai Vloet is doubtful with muscular problems, Daniele Ciofani is working his way back from a severe hamstring tear.
