Serie A Injury and Suspension Report – Round 12

Atalanta: Josip Ilicic was handed a two-game suspension for kicking an opponent from behind. Duvan Zapata is not ready to come back from his thigh strain. Robin Gosens is dealing with sciatica. Ruslan Malinovskyi has a sore glute. Remo Freuler is bang up as well and the trio is legitimately questionable. 

Bologna: Roberto Soriano has been ruled out due to a knee bruise, Federico Santander because of a calf one. Takehiro Tomiyasu (thigh), Mitchell Dijks (toe contusion) and Mattia Destro (knee soreness) stay on the shelf.

Brescia: Alessandro Matri is suspended. Ernesto Torregrossa (quad) and Giangiacomo Magnani might be ready to be called up after spending a lot of time on the mend. John Chancellor (thigh strain) and Luca Tremolada (shoulder sprain) will instead more likely be back after the break.

Cagliari: Luca Ceppitelli and Valter Birsa remain out with the foot problems that forced them to miss the most recent game.

Fiorentina: Franck Ribery will serve the final game of his suspension, while Martin Caceres has resumed practicing after a thigh sprain and will be available here.

Genoa: Christian Kouame will not be at the coach’s disposal because he already flew to Egypt for the U-23 African Cup of Nations. Cristian Romero subbed off with muscle fatigue last week but he is expected to be fine. Domenico Criscito and Andrea Favilli have returned to full training after thigh strains, but they will sit one more out. 

Inter: Matteo Politano suffered a pretty nasty ankle sprain against Borussia Dortmund and will be better evaluated during the break. Roberto Gagliardini (thigh) and Kwadwo Asamoah (knee) missed that one and they are unlikely to be available for the weekend. Danilo D’Ambrosio is on his way to recovering from a toe fracture. Stefano Sensi is undergoing check-ups for a new muscular issue and has been ruled out.  

Juventus: Cristiano Ronaldo subbed off late due to a minor muscular problem against Lokomotiv Moscow and Matthijs De Ligt missed that one with a minor ankle sprain and they are both questionable. 

Lazio: Joaquin Correa missed the recent Europa League bout with a calf contusion, which renders him questionable for the weekend, but the latest reports are positive. Ciro Immobile and Felipe Caicedo instead played through fatigue and a shoulder bruise. Adam Marusic suffered a thigh strain and Stefan Radu picked up a muscular problem as well: they will be back after the break. Silvio Proto continues to nurse a wrist sprain.

Lecce: Andrea Tabanelli is out due to a muscular injury. Diego Farias will return after the break due to his thigh one.

Milan: Suso skipped the last match due to muscle fatigue but he will be available against Juventus, while Mateo Musacchio remains sidelinedSamu Castillejo suffered a thigh (biceps femoris) strain. Franck Kessie has been excluded due to coach’s decision, Fabio Borini for a thigh ailment. 

Napoli: Kostas Manolas has the flu and will miss the upcoming game. Mario Rui subbed off in Champions League, but he is the squad list. Allan was surprisingly called up but ended on the stands few days removed from a knee sprain. He is out for Saturday. 

Parma: Yann Karamoh will miss considerable time due to an LCL sprain in the right knee. Vincent Laurini worked his way back from a shoulder bruise, while Bruno Alves stays on the mend due to a thigh strain. Roberto Inglese will not be back before a month from an ankle sprain.

Roma: Damir Cetin is suspended. Leonardo Spinazzola bowed out of the last game due to a muscular issue, but it is not a major one. Amadou Diawara returned to action in Europa League one month after a meniscus tear. Bryan Cristante will not undergo groin surgery due to a tendon tear, but he still will not be back before January.

Sampdoria: Fabio Quagliarella and Jakub Jankto are available after minor muscular problems.

Sassuolo: Mehdi Bourabia (calf) and Francesco Magnanelli (quad) are back, while Vlad Chiriches and Gianmarco Ferrari stay out with their thigh ones. Marlon Santos is questionable due to an unspecified problem. Pedro Obiang is disqualified.

SPAL: Francesco Vicari hurt his shoulder in the last game but he has a chance to recover in time. He will be a game-time decision. Igor is suspended. Federico Di Francesco might be back after two months nursing a thigh strain. He will be called up but he in unlikely to play according to the coach. 

Torino: Iago Falque suffered a thigh strain, Daniele Baselli a high ankle sprain and they will both be out of commission for about a month. Kevin Bonifazi remains out with a hand fracture. Simone Zaza has been ruled out with an ankle sprain. 

Udinese: Jens Stryger Larsen is poised to be back from a thigh problem, while Sebastien De Maio avoided a serious one in the same area despite subbing off last week. Ignacio Pussetto has been ruled out. 

Verona: Miguel Veloso sustained a thigh strain, Marash Kumbulla a calf one and they will both return after the break. Salvatore Bocchetti is back in the squad list after a thigh strain, while Luigi Vitale is out with a knee problem.
