Lecce 1-4 AC Milan: Tops and flops for the Rossoneri – Calhanoglu pulling the strings

AC Milan managed to claim all three points from the clash against Lecce last night, putting four goals past their former goalkeeper Gabriel. Although there were some struggles, it was important for the Rossoneri to start the resumption with a win, given how important the season finale will be.

Stefano Pioli will be delighted with the performance as Milan’s main struggle this season has been the scoring and even without Zlatan Ibrahimovic, they managed to rise to the occasion. Better yet, there were four different goalscorers and Ante Rebic got his revenge from the Juve clash by scoring the third.  Continue reading

Serie A Round 12 Fantacalcio Player Trends: Stock Up

We are rapidly approaching the winter months of the 2019/20 Serie A season, and with this, are nearly a 1/3rd of the way through. This is the point in the campaign where we begin to learn who should be taken seriously as contenders, and who should perhaps be dismissed as pretenders in the race for European qualification.

Last week saw plenty of notable outcomes that changed the shape of the table, including Roma’s 2-1 win over Napoli at the Stadio Olimpico, as well as Cagliari shooting into 4th with a 2-0 victory away versus Atalanta. With these results came plenty of standout performers, several of which you may want to consider adding to your fantacalcio rosters this weekend.

Here are five players to look at for round 12. Continue reading

Rating the summer signings of AC Milan

The transfer market has finally come to an end, thankfully. After several months of rumours, AC Milan will now be able to focus fully on the season ahead. During the summer, the Rossoneri made a total of six signings for the first team, and down below are my ratings of them all. Continue reading

Top three AC Milan picks for Fantasy Serie A

As the start of Serie A is only one week away (roughly), it is time to take a look at a few choices that you should make for your fantasy team. This article will focus on three AC Milan players that you must have in your team, as they are guaranteed point-machines (one can hope).

First of all, there are several players in the current Rossoneri squad that I believe could be useful in a fantasy team. However, as we all know, the rules only allow you to pick three players from each club. Therefore, without further ado, down below are my top three picks.  Continue reading

AC Milan rumour round-up: Hernandez announced, Bennacer and Krunic next

Empoli-FC-Training-Session-1562531420

As opposed to previous weeks, the transfer market has entered a stage where some of the rumours actually materialize, at least for AC Milan. This week, the Rossoneri announced the signing of Theo Hernandez, and more announcements are expected. Down below are the latest rumours about the team.

Theo Hernandez officially announced: the details

As mentioned, the signing of the left-back was announced on Saturday, even though the deal had been done for a while now. Contrary to previous reports, though, Hernandez has joined Milan on a permanent basis for a reported fee of €20m. In a statement on their website, the Rossoneri confirmed the signing. Abject opening defeat puts big pressure on champions

Untitled

Incumbent champions Germany kicked-off their World Cup campaign in the worst possible fashion as a lacklustre performance from the side saw them succumb to a 1-0 defeat against opponents Mexico, whose dynamic performance saw Germany full far short of the quality they’ve delivered in past campaigns.

Now, significant questions must be asked within the set-up, if they are to turn around a campaign that is already threatening to derail.

Coming off the back of a round of World Cup warm-up matches that were far than flattering for the world champions – which included a narrow victory over lowly Saudi Arabia – the defeat is the latest in a trend of poor results for a team that look low on Continue reading

La Liga team of the week

aspas

La Liga threw up some surprising results last weekend, as well as one unsurprising star performance. Check out our team of the week, here!

Daniel Gimenez, Real Betis – seven points

A clean sheet in his first game of the season in Betis colours saw Gimenez’s team on their way to 2-0 win over Eibar.

His exploits in this rare appearance will have him hoping he can vie for a more regular berth in the team.

Victor Laguardia, Alaves – nine points

He may have only secured 21 points over the entirety of the season but Laguardia’s stella performance on the weekend saw him land a perhaps unexpected place in our team of the week.

Having given his side the lead in the first half, Laguardia then went on to keep a clean sheet to boot as his side ran out 2-0 winners.

Antonio Barragan, Real Betis – seven points

In what are perhaps unusual statistics for a defender, Barragan has bagged five assists this season but contributed to just seven clean sheets.

One of them came this weekend for former Liverpool man who is on loan from Middlesbrough- as he played a key role in a resolute performance for Betis.

Ruben Duarte, Alaves – five points

Another to benefit from Alaves’ clean sheet, Duarte is now on eight for the season – seeing him land on 21 points come the final whistle.

The win saw Alaves end a poor run of form as they appear to be safe from any residual threat of relegation.

Raul Navas, Sociedad – five points

Having started his 14th game of the campaign, Navas secures his fifth clean sheet – a fact that highlights how assured he can be when on his game.

Sociedad now sit in 12th place in the table and will be hoping the win is a platform from which they can launch an end of season burst from.

Pablo Hernandez, Celts Vigo – six points

The Celta midfielder marked his 25th game of the season with two assists as his team mate Iago Aspas led them to an inspired win this weekend.

Now 31, the Chilean International has failed to grab an assist to this point, but has secured 25 points.

Adnan Januzaj, Real Sociedad – six points

The Belgian midfielder bagged his side’s second goal in their 5-0 win as he hit three goals and 25 points for the season.

His career may have underwhelmed since he burst onto the scenes at Manchester United but there is now doubting his raw ability.

David Zurutuza, Real Sociedad – six points

Zurutuza secured two assists in his team’s comprehensive victory, an outstanding feat considering he only came onto the pitch in the 64th minute.

The French-born Spanish midfielder has been largely peripheral this season but will home that this performance can but him in the manager’s mind as an inconsistent season enters its final throes.

Sergio Canales, Real Sociedad – five points

The former Madrid and Valencia man has made Sociedad his home since arriving in 2014.

The attacking midfielder opened the scoring for his side as they recorded a resounding victory over Girona.

Lionel Messi, Barcelona – 14 points

The iconic attacker netted a hat-trick in his side’s 3-1 victory over Leganes to put Barca 11 points clear of Atletico.

With 29 goals now to his name, could the Argentine be on the brink of a record sixth Ballon d’Or?

Iago Aspas, Celta Vigo – 14 points

The Spanish international has exemplified how perfect a fit he and Celta are this season, scoring a hat-trick against Sevilla to put him 19 goals for the season.

With 78 points to his name this campaign, it will be intriguing to see just how high he can finish.
