Barcelona have made a spectacular start to the new season, and their talisman striker Lionel Messi has been a huge reason behind their early success.

The Catalans have looked solid on the defensive front and have conceded just two goals, but they have looked equally efficient going forward. The Catalans have scored 20 goals in their opening six games, and of those 20, nine have been scored by Messi. Atletico Madrid and Valencia are the next best attacking sides in the league at the moment with 12 goals each.

Here’s a look at the top performing strikers in La Liga after opening six game-weeks in the season.

As we already mentioned, Messi occupies the top spot in our fantasy league with 40 points. The Argentinean is definitely expensive at 22m in the market, but if you are looking to put your money in an expensive striker then he is your player. He has already scored nine goals this season and has also provided a single assist. Messi is currently owned by 30% of our fantasy football teams.

Simone Zara has proved to be a huge a success at Valencia. The Italian has been a big factor behind Valencia’s early-season form. The 26-year-old has scored five goals in six appearances for the fourth-placed side. Zaza is moderately priced at 5.5m and he has collected 20 points this season.

Sergio Leon of Real Betis has collected 14 points from his five starts this season. The 28-year-old scored a goal and provided an assist in the 4-0 win over Levante last weekend, and now he sits in the third spot in our list. He is available for 7.5m, and he has scored three goals and has also picked up an assist this season.

Athletic Bilbao are struggling in the bottom half of the table, but Inaki Williams has made an impressive start to the new season with them. The 23-year-old, who is available for 6.5m in the market, has three goals and a single assist from five starts this season. He has 14 points on the board, and he could prove to be a good purchase.

A total of four players occupy the last spot on our list with 12 points each. All four of them – Gerard Moreno (Espanyol), Angel (Getafe), Rodrigo (Valencia), and Anthony Sanabria (Real Betis) – have scored three goals for their respective sides this season.

Out of these four, Angel has made just one start and Sanabria has made a couple of starts while the other two have been regular starters for their respective sides.
