The injury bug is running through few teams, also most of last week’s suspensions have carried over to this round. Here are the updates.

Napoli:  Vlad Chiriches could return from a hamstring strain, while Faouzi Ghoulam is in the rehab phase of a fractured fibula. Arek Milik played few minutes against Roma.

Juventus: Alex Sandro and Stephan Lichtsteiner are suspended. Mario Mandzukic missed the last game due to some adductor pain, but he might recover in time for Sunday. Gonzalo Higuain played at Wembley, so he got past an ankle sprain. Mattia De Sciglio is expected back from a hamstring strain. Medhi Benatia rolled an ankle against Tottenham and is questionable. Juan Cuadrado should resumed practicing fully next week after undergoing sports hernia surgery, while in the coming days Federico Bernardeschi will take the tests on his knee to determine his rest-of-the-season outlook.

Roma:  Federico Fazio and Edin Dzeko are suspended. Gregoire Defrel has been ruled out for a minor physical problem. Rick Karsdorp has still few hoops to clear before returning from an ACL tear, which will at best happen in April.

Lazio: Adam Marusic will serve the second and final game of his suspension, but he is also dealing with a sore back. Dusan Basta was out last weekend, but he played in Europa League. Martin Caceres is expected to be back as well. Senad Lulic has been under the weather this week.

Inter: no injury concerns for Luciano Spalletti.

Sampdoria:  Gaston Ramirez has recovered from an ankle sprain, while Bartosz Bereszynski is unlikely to be ready as he is battling adductor tendinopathy.

Milan: the backups Luca Antonelli, Ignazio Abate and Mateo Musacchio were not available for the Arsenal game and their status for the upcoming one is murky.

Atalanta: Andrea Petagna has solved an abdominal problem, while Mattia Caldara practiced partially this week due to some back pain and he will sit out this week.

Torino:  Mbaye Niang suffered a nose fracture early in the week, but he has been fitted for a mask and he has been called up. However, missing from the squad list are Adem Ljajic and Joel Obi for recent muscular ailments, same for Kevin Bonifazi, Lyanco for a foot problem, Cristian Molinaro for a cracked fibula and Nicolas Burdisso, who is suspended.

Fiorentina: no absentees for Stefano Pioli.

Udinese: Jens Stryger Larsen is disqualified, while Danilo and Kevin Lasagna are working their way back from hamstring strains, but it looks like it will be at least a week or two before they are ready.

Bologna: Andrea Poli suffered a foot strain last week and will miss a couple of games, the same goes for Riccardo Orsolini due to a hamstring one. Giancarlo Gonzalez is suspended, while Rodrigo Palacio is not 100% but he is available after a quad strain. Simone Romagnoli received a knock on the foot during the week.

Genoa: Giuseppe Rossi is expected to return after missing time with a hamstring strain, Adel Taarabt has made progress after dealing with back pain, but he is not in the squad list. The other two injured players, Miguel Veloso (calf) and Armando Izzo (MCL sprain) remain on the shelf.

Cagliari: Diego Farias is still practicing on his own for a calf issue, while Luca Cigarini is undergoing therapy for a foot fracture. Joao Pedro has tested positive for a banned substance and that triggered the precautionary suspension.

Chievo:  Roberto Inglese had a clean week and he will be out there on Saturday night, while Alessandro Gamberini is ready to play after an hamstring strain.

Sassuolo: Domenico Berardi is suspended, while Alessandro Matri and Rogerio are iffy due to muscular ailments. Timo Letschert will return in spring.

Spal: Federico Mattiello is disqualified. Bartosz Salamon was not called up last week due to an ankle sprain and Thiago Cionek has some muscle fatigue: they are both questionable. At this point, they have gotten used to be without Marco Borriello, who has been nursing a calf edema for quite some time.

Crotone: it will be a while before Ante Budimir comes back from a foot fracture. Andrea Barberis, Alex Cordaz and Ahmad Benali are healthier than last week, while Adrian Stoian’s presence is in doubt for a calf strain and Marcus Rohden, Mariano Izco and Stefan Simic are not expected to be at Zeng’s disposal.

Verona: Romulo is suspended, while Alessio Cerci and Mattia Valoti are both poised to miss the derby due to a hamstring and a calf pull respectively.

Benevento:  Nicolas Viola is disqualified, while Sandro is trying a miraculously quick recovery from a calf strain, but he will not play this week. Marco D’Alessandro will sit out a little longer for a tricky MCL sprain. Luca Antei and Fabio Lucioni, for different reasons, are out for the year.
