Serie A Injury Report – Round 16

Juventus: Joao Cancelo has a torn meniscus and will return after the break. Juan Cuadrado hyperextended his knee against Young Boys and he will not play in the weekend, while Medhi Benatia (knee soreness) has recovered. Rodrigo Bentancur is suspended, Sami Khedira will not come back from his ankle injury. Andrea Barzagli is out with a quad strain.

Napoli: Mario Rui subbed off against Liverpool due to a muscular injury that has yet to be evaluated, while Simone Verdi should make the squad list after being on the mend for a good chunk due to a pair of injury, the latest being an ankle sprain.

Inter: Radja Nainggolan was called up for the Champions League game, but he was not ready to contribute due to his thigh ailment. He is called up but will not start. Matias Vecino has a quad problem, which forced him to sit a lot recently.

Milan: Suso skipped the Europa League tilt with muscle fatigue, but he should be able to contribute on Tuesday. Mateo Musacchio was on the bench for the Olympiakos game, returning super early from his PCL tear. The next one to recover will be Alessio Romagnoli (calf strain), but it is improbable he will be ready for this weekend. Fabio Borini is questionable with an ankle injury.

Lazio: Lucas Leiva tried to come back midweek, but his return from a thigh problem was pushed back again, so he remains questionable, like Milan Badelj and Adam Marusic, who are dealing with a similar issue, but have a better chance to recover. Sergej Milinkovic-Savic should be fine after a knock.

Torino: Iago Falque has some muscle fatigue, but he will try to gut it out.

Atalanta:  Berat Djimsiti is slated to return after missing one game with a minor thigh injury.

Roma: Edin Dzeko has resumed practicing in limited capacity, but he has more chances for the following weekend than for this one. Stephan El Shaarawy has a similar, or slightly delayed, timetable. Daniele De Rossi could return after being on the shelf with knee soreness, while Lorenzo Pellegrini will be on the sidelines again with a thigh strain.

Sassuolo:  Filip Djuricic picked up a two-game ban. No returns among the injured players: Kevin-Prince Boateng (pelvis), Jeremie Boga (tibia), Claud Adjapong (fibula) and Lorenzo Sernicola (ankle).

Parma: Bruno Alves bowed out of the last game because of a thigh problem, but he is trending in the right direction and has a shot for the weekend. Matteo Sprocati picked up a similar issue. Gervinho will not be able to return this week, same for Federico Dimarco (abdomen) and Francisco Sierralta (rectus femoris).

Sampdoria: Bartosz Bereszynski is suspended and also suffered a thigh strain, so he will miss multiple games. Edgar Barreto (thigh) is healthy enough to be called up.

Fiorentina: Jordan Veretout, Nikola Milenkovic and Edimilson Fernandes are all disqualified, Bryan Dabo was out last week with a hip contusion.

Cagliari: Leonardo Pavoletti pulled his thigh flexor and he is set to be out against Napoli. Artur Ionita and Charalampos Lykogiannis are both trying to shake off muscular ailments, the latter has a good chances to start on Sunday. Darijo Srna and Luca Ceppitelli were both hit with a two-match suspension.

Empoli: Manuel Pasqual and Luca Antonelli are fatigued, but there is optimism they will be out there on Sunday. There is more corcern about the availability of Rade Krunic, who has a sore knee, but he was able to resume practicing regularly late in the week.

Genoa: Domenico Criscito is suspended. Nicolas Spolli (thigh) is expeted to return, while Gianluca Lapadula and Luca Mazzitelli should spend more time on the mend with minor issues. Koray Gunter is banged up.

SPAL: no injuries for the Estensi.

Udinese: Antonin Barak has shaken off the back pain that has held him out and Molla Wague should be back from a calf strain. Lukas Teodorczyk should not be able to contribute until 2019 after his sports hernia surgery.

Bologna:  Erick Pulgar picked up a calf injury that will force him to be on the mend for ten days. 

Frosinone:  Luka Krajnc rolled his ankle, but he should be fine. Federico Dionisi, Emil Hallfredsson and Luca Paganini are all out long-term due to knee injuries.

Chievo: Fabio Depaoli is suspended. Nicola Rigoni and Manuel Pucciarelli should return. Nenad Tomovic is having a hard time healing from a thigh strain. Fabrizio Cacciatore is out due to a knock he suffered in practice, Joel Obi due to a bruised foot.
