Serie A Injury and Suspension Report – Round 18

Atalanta: Duvan Zapata has resumed practicing fully after his complicate thigh injury and he is fully expected to be available against Parma, but the capacity remains to be determined. Pierluigi Gollini is dealing with the flu.

Bologna: Blerin Dzemaili is under the weather and is out, Federico Santander has recovered from a tibia bruise, while Ladislav Krejci will likely miss another one with a sore knee.

Brescia: Alfredo Donnarumma and Emanuele Ndoj are on the wrong side of questionable due to muscular problems. Bruno Martella joined the long list of sick players this week.

Cagliari: Fabio Pisacane is suspended. Fabrizio Cacciatore (thigh) and Valter Birsa (fractured hand) have recovered from the issues that kept them out before the break, while Luca Ceppitelli (plantar fasciitis) and Lucas Castro (muscle fatigue) continue to practice on the side, but Castro made the squad list. Alessio Cragno is nearing a return after off-season shoulder surgery.

Fiorentina: Federico Chiesa has recuperated from his ankle injury.

Genoa: Stefano Sturaro and Cristian Zapata should be ready to play after being hindered by thigh injuries, while Lukas Lerager remains iffy with a groin one.

Inter: Danilo D’Ambrosio will miss the Napoli game because of a hamstring problem. Nicolò Barella (knee) and Alexis Sanchez (ankle) resumed training fully after major injuries and should be called up Monday. Kwadwo Asamoah continues nursing an achy knee, but he is trending in the right direction as well.

Juventus: Rodrigo Bentancur has been slapped with a three-game suspension after the Supercoppa. No absentees other than the long-term ones Giorgio Chiellini and Sami Khedira (knee).

Lazio: Lucas Leiva and Luis Alberto will be on the stands due to yellow-card accumulation. Ciro Immobile and Bastos are both dealing with the flu, while Danilo Cataldi is on track to play despite some recent muscle fatigue. Jordan Lukaku underwent another knee clean-up surgery and he is not expected back before a month, Denis Vavro instead should return mid-month from a sprain.

Lecce: Marco Calderoni is disqualified. Zan Majer might be forced to sit out one with an ankle sprain, while Panagiotis Tachtsidis is under the weather. Biagio Meccariello has recovered, while Giannelli Imbula and Romario Benzar are again banged up.

Milan: Lucas Biglia picked up a thigh injury and will be re-evaluated next week. Ricardo Rodriguez is out with a groin issue, Ante Rebic with a back one. Fabio Borini has been DNPC’D.

Napoli: it does not look like Kalidou Koulibaly and Nikola Maksimovic will be ready to play due to hamstring strains they suffered at the end of 2019. Faouzi Ghoulam will remain on the shelf with a similar problem. Fabian Ruiz is under the weather, while Dries Mertens hurt his hammy and took few days off, so he will not be available this week.

Parma: Riccardo Gagliolo is suspended, while Matteo Scozzarella has recuperated from a calf strain. Roberto Inglese has made strides after an ankle sprain and will be available barring a late setback. Andreas Cornelius (thigh) has some chances but it will go down to the wire: he was cleared but will be limited. Gervinho (thigh) and Yann Karamoh (knee) instead need some more time.

Roma: Justin Kluivert (thigh), Davide Santon (thigh) and Javier Pastore (locks) are out again despite rehabbing through the break. Bryan Cristante could be back next week from his massive groin issue. Federico Fazio has been excluded due to an adductor issue.

Sampdoria: Alex Ferrari tore his ACL and will be out for the season. Gianluca Caprari was sent off in the last game. Fabio Depaoli and Nicola Murru have shaken off minor problems, while Bartosz Bereszynski and Federico Bonazzoli, who spent a decent amount of time on the shelf due to a meniscus tear and a thigh strain, have returned to the squad list. Edgar Barreto and Andrea Bertolacci will instead skip another one with thigh issues. Omar Colley has had the flu, but he is good to go.

Sassuolo: Marlon suffered a hamstring strain and will miss three-to-four weeks. Domenico Berardi practiced in limited capacity after being a late scratch in the previous match and he is uncertain for the next one. Gregoire Defrel and Vlad Chiriches will not be back this week, Rogerio is dinged up. Manuel Locatelli is questionable with the flu, Rogerio is out with a sore knee.

SPAL: Jacopo Sala (calf) and Arkadiusz Reca (quad) have progressed and at least one of the two should return, leaving only Mohamed Fares and Marco D’Alessandro on the disabled list due to ACL tears.

Torino: Cristian Ansaldi and Bremer are suspended. Daniele Baselli will be out of commission again due to a knee sprain, while Iago Falque (quad) is more likely to be back next week than this one, same for Simone Edera and Vittorio Parigini.

Udinese: Samir will be on the mend for a while due to a meniscus removal.

Verona: Sofyan Amrabat is disqualified. Emmanuel Badu has recovered from pulmonary micro embolism, while Daniel Bessa is not ready yet and neither is Eddy Salcedo following knee surgery. Alan Empereur suffered a hamstring strain. Samuel Di Carmine will be spared because of a hand fracture.
