Serie A Player Status Updates – Round 31

Once again the conditions of some of Serie A’s top players need to be monitored entering the next round.

Juventus: Andrea Barzagli suffered an abdominal injury against Real Madrid and he could miss one or two weeks. Federico Bernardeschi is again not in the squad list, even though he is close.

Napoli: Raul Albiol and Jorginho are suspended and Faouzi Ghoulam is out with a fibula fracture. Lorenzo Tonelli is a little banged up, while Vlad Chiriches was called up last week after a six-week absence due to a hamstring injury.

Roma: Cengiz Under is unlikely to be available for the next couple of games due to a hamstring (rectus femoris) pull. Radja Nainggolan was replaced early against Bologna and missed the Barcelona match due to a similar, but a little less severe, problem and he is considered questionable for Saturday. Rick Karsdorp is out with an ACL tear. Diego Perotti suffered a knock to the calf in Barcelona and will be out this weekend.

Inter: Matias Vecino will not be available due to a sore adductor. 

Lazio: Adam Marusic was not called up in Europa League due to muscle fatigue, Wallace due to a tibial periostitis and Jordan Lukaku because of knee soreness. Neither injury is too concerning and they are expected be in the squad list. Marco Parolo is out due to a groin issue. 

Milan: after further testing following a sprain in practice, Andrea Conti underwent a second ACL reconstruction surgery because the knee was too weak and he will try to be ready for the start of next season. No other injury concerns.

Atalanta: Josip Ilicic and Leonardo Spinazzola are expected to be out due knee sprains, Marten De Roon has a bruised shoulder, but he could play through it, Luca Rizzo is doubtful as well, while Mattia Caldara should be OK after experiencing back spasms for a while.

Fiorentina:  Federico Chiesa is suspended, while Cyril Thereau is trying to shake off some muscle fatigue, but he will not play this week. Milan Badelj will return only late in the season after a knee (MCL) sprain.

Sampdoria: Fabio Quagliarella has a sore calf, but he is trying to recovery, while Edgar Barreto could return after a hamstring strain. Dawid Kownacki (hamstring) and Ricky Alvarez (knee) are likely to be on the stands.

Torino: Tomas Rincon is suspended, while Mbaye Niang has some muscle fatigue that is putting his presence at San Siro in jeopardy.

Bologna:  Blerin Dzemaili is questionable due to muscle fatigue, while Giancarlo Gonzalez has missed some practices due to a knock. Emil Krafth could return from a back problem. Mattia Destro is out due to a late calf issue, Adam Nagy because of a hip contusion. 

Genoa: Miguel Veloso and Armando Izzo continue to nurse their calf strains, while Andrej Galabinov is close to combing back from a hamstring one. Aleandro Rosi is out.

Udinese:  Gabriele Angella is questionable due to a pulled calf, while Seko Fofana and Valon Behrami remain out with hamstring strains.

Chievo:  Fabrizio Cacciatore is disqualified, while Pawel Jaroszynski, Dario Dainelli and Alessandro Gamberini are dealing with small muscular ailments. Lucas Castro (flu) and Valter Birsa have been ruled out.

Cagliari: Diego Farias is out due to calf problem, Han is at risk because of ankle sprain, Alessandro Deiola due to hamstring fatigue. Marco Andreolli, Luca Ceppitelli and Joao Pedro are suspended. Luca Cigarini is set to return from a foot fracture. Daniele Dessena had a last-minute muscular injury.

Sassuolo: Domenico Berardi and Edoardo Goldaniga had to be subbed off in the midweek game, the winger because of knock to the knee, the defender due to a muscular problem. They are both on the wrong side of questionable. Claud Adjapong and Francesco Magnanelli are suspended.

Spal: Francesco Vicari is suspended, while Federico Mattiello could return from an ankle sprain. Lorenco Simic is banged up. Boukary Dramè (hamstring) and Marco Borriello (calf) are still out. Pasquale Schiattarella is out because of an ankle sprain.

Crotone:  Ahmad Benali has suffered a foot (fifth metatarsus) fracture against Torino and is unlikely to return this season. Andrea Nalini, Mariano Izco and Stefan Simic are questionable due to muscular injuries. Ante Budimir is out with a foot fracture and he as well will have a tough time returning in time.

Verona: Simone Calvano and Mattia Valoti were substituted against Benevento due to minor muscular problem and they are questionable this week. Ryder Matos is dealing with an eye disease, while Thomas Heurtaux missed time with a sore knee. Moise Kean needs more time after a severe hamstring strain, while Mattia Zaccagni is out for the season. Matteo Bianchetti and Alessio Cerci have returned. Deian Boldor has suffered a knee sprain.

Benevento: Gaetano Letizia and Fabio Lucioni are suspended, while Ledjan Memushaj and Vittorio Parigini have already been ruled out by the coach. Bacary Sagna could be available after a hamstring pull. Andrea Costa is out.
